Concorso D'Eleganza Villa D'Este
2011
Concept Cars & Prototypes
One of the most exciting categories in Cernobbio is
the class for concept-cars, and prototypes.
To be more correct, they should add "one offs", because
the first car to be listed isn't a concept, and no prototype...
2011 Ferrari Super America 45 Convertible
Mr. Peter S. Kalikow bought his first Ferrari 45 years
ago, to celebrate that, he decided to add something special to his collection.
The basic design seems similar to the Ferrari 599GTO,
combined with the flip-over-top, which Ferrari enthusiasts know from the
575M Superamerica,
and which was created by Ex-Pininfarina designer Leonardo
Fioravanti, shown for the first time at his prototype named Fioravanti
Vola.
Unfortunately, in my opinion, the Super America 45
looks like a Ferrari pick-up, when the top is closed...
It's not the first car, which was built specially
for Mr. Kalikow, two years ago, he showed his Momo Mirage of 1972.

In 2010, Mr. Kalikow showed his 1950 Jaguar XK120 Roadster.
2010 Audi Quattro Concept Fastback Coupé
In 2010, Audi celebrated the 1980 debut of the Audi
Quattro Coupe.
The concept-car shows a design quite unspectacular
for a show-car, but ready for production,
just the problem how to fit that car between the Audi
TT, and the Audi A5 Coupe.
2010 Mercedes-Benz Concept Shooting Break
Mercedes showed some sort of a CLS-Station Wagon at
Villa D'Este,
the car had its debut at the 2010 China Autoshow.
2011 Infiniti Etherea Coupé
The Ethera concept debuted at the 2011 Geneva Motor
Show.
2011 Italdesign Giugiaro GO! Coupé
ItalDesign showed the electric concept car Go!, which
also debuted at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show.
No surprise to see another VW showcar, designed by
Giugiaro, due to the fact that ItalDesign is part of the Volkswagen Group.
2011 Rinspeed BamBoo
Rinspeed, always good for an interesting concept-car
at the Geneva Motor Show, presented the BamBoo,
a car that seems to be built in the tradition of the
Citroen Mehari.
Keep it simple, and color your life seems to be the
motto of the car.
2010 Renault DeZir Electric Coupé
The DeZir wants to show the new design-line of Renault.
2011 Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus P4/5 Coupé
Another one-off was shown by James Glickenhaus.
The P4/5 Competizione is based on a Ferrari F430,
and ready to be raced, in the tradition of the Ferrari 330 P4.
Mr. Glickenhaus also owns a street-legal, Enzo-based
street-version of the P4/5,
and he was able to add the Paolo
Martin designed Pininfarina Dino 206 Competizione to his collection.
2011 Aston-Martin Zagato
Zagato created a fascinating Aston-Martin, which will
be raced, and if he runs as good as the car sounds, so... wow!!!
Not listed officially in this category were two cars, a BMW, and a Rolls-Royce, coming from the main sponsor of this event:
2011 BMW 328 Hommage
A special surprise for all the visitors at Villa D'Este,
the BMW 328 Hommage.
75 years ago, the successful BMW 328 debuted, worth
a small extra exhibition
at the Pavillon of Villa Erba during the Villa D'Este event.
BMW recreated the 2011 showcar Vision ConnectedDrive
Concept, adding some leather belts, and a chromed BMW-kidney.
2011 Rolls-Royce 102EX / Phantom Experimental Electric
Rolls-Royce showed up with the 102EX, a standard Phantom,
just powered by electricity.
Well, it's not that easy to convert a 2.5-ton car
into an electric-car, but they did it...
