ItalDesign
Ford Mustang
(Geneva 2007)
The Mustang by Giugiaro originally was presented at the Los Angeles Motor Show in November 2006.
In March 2007, I had the chance to see ItalDesigns suggestion for a new Mustang at the Geneva Motor Show.
There, I had the chance to see
two different models, one at the stand of Vredestein, a tire company.
Giugiaro also designs tires
for that company.
At the ItalDesign stand, there was a real, running prototype.
Inspired by the original 1964 Mustang, ItalDesign worked on a realistic, actual Mustang.
Back in 2003, ID already worked
on an American car-icon, the Corvette.
(More about the ID Moray you
can find here.)
Even in 2007, the Moray looks
more futuristic, than the actual ID Mustang.
Compared to the actual, production-Mustang,
the Giugiaro design is just
a little ahead of its time,
showing a more ideal, but less
practical design.
The design includes a transparent
roof, a missing trunk-hood, and some Lamborghini-like opening doors,
a must to make cars a little
more interesting...
